Ok.. this has gotten out of hand... ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. So... I'm wondering why this post was closed:

    http://www.hardforum.com/showthread....1078063&page=2

Are you kidding me? Do all the admins have their panties in a bunch or has kyle gotten SOOOOO money hungry that we can't even have a lighthearted thread (where there was ZERO flaming btw) in this forum without being directed to the "pay area" of the site? Jesus... it's not like there are 50 freaking "off topic" threads in there. There is 1 damn thread where people are laughing and having a good time... a pleasent change and much needed after the last few days. Would anybody care to explain? This will probably get locked.... but I think it needs to be said.

  2. Uh... It was even more off topic than this thread.

Thats why. Don't like it? Ante up for Gen May or visit one of the other many internet forums.

    Damn Poncho!!!!! He told you.

Looks like someone wants to score brownie points.

  4. First they make the general mayhem forum subscription only, then they delete the hobby forums, now this stuff.

It might just be me, but one of the things I liked most about the [H] was that you could have serious discussions and still joke around and not take yourself too seriously all in the same place.

Personally, I would hate to see this site turn into another Tom's Hardware or Anandtech. Sometimes the best discussions and the most worthwhile opinions come when we actually get to let our hair down a little.

  5. Sorry we like to keep to our main forums more tech oriented. There are plenty of others to visit is you like other styles of posting.

Ding Ding Ding.... winnar. :D Yea, the butthurtness around here is intense lately. Lame... people need to lighten up a bit.

  7. Poncho, what part of this rule is unclear to you?

    (2) No OFF-TOPIC posting will be allowed with the exception of the PREMIUM FORUM area. If general conversation is what you seek, you have found a new home http://www.hardforum.com/subscriptions.php?

And threads started to ask why a thread was locked generally share the same fate.

LMAO... yea, cause the constant bickering and bitching in the "tech threads" is so much better than the one that was closed.

  9. I am in agreement with Poncho...I see absolutely no reason why things have to be so lockdown bomb-threat mode tense.....If people want to come to this forum for purely information, it's easy to pick out which threads are headed for fun-land and which ones are going to stay docked in serious-bay. No-ones forcing anyone to read or participate in "Out of Hand" threads, so I believe we should be allowed to carry them on, at least until things become personally offensive or the like. If you're really stuck on keeping these parts of the forums clean, give out free genmay passes, you won't be seeing any child-ish sarcastic comments for a long time, trust me. :D Chill.

  10. Something that started out as a hobby that turned into a business........eventually ends up strictly business. And dont ask me how I know that.

He does have a family to take care of, but sometimes you have to say fuk it and go back to the roots.

  11. dude, that thread was totally off topic, thats why it got closed.

That was a perfect example of a general mayhem thread, I agree with your post lethal.

And threads about locked threads are lame. ('cept 2gigs )

That was a perfect thread to poke a little fun and ease up the tension around here. I understand that God.... I mean Kyle... needs to make money. Got zero problem with that.... but jesus, it was one goddamn thread that would have died in a day and lightened the mood around here. Between the Nazi moderators and the ads in the text (which are ANNOYING) this forum is REALLY losing it's appeal.

dude, alot of threads get locked here, but even more dont. The admins around here usually enforse the rules to a T- so why cant people just follow them? Subscribe to general mayhem if you want some leniency. i've had threads locked too, and while it is frustrating, sometimes you just have to deal with it...the reason this is a popular place is because the admins lock the bullshit, questions get answered.

Thats not how we do it here. If you dont like it; pay the $5 General Mayhem fee (worth every penny), leave, or deal with the rules you agreed to upon regestering at the [H].

anywho. yea the same happened to a thread i made about stupid stories. I work a small computer repair store and i was lookin to see if anyone had ever seen any clients as stoopid as the one that cut his PCI-e card to fit in his AGP slot. LOL.

comon. you got Monarch and Newegg BOTH sponsoring this site, you guys cant be poor,

  16. Well, so many of us *CENCORED* that we probably should pony up and get Gen May, considering the use we get out of this forum. I will soon.

I hope that was vague enough for the nazi admins of doom. :p

I have to agree. The same people that tend to have the most insightful comments about current and upcoming technology (the geek contingent if you will) are also the ones who are most turned away by excessive ads and censorship. I understand why Kyle would want the [H] to be seen as more mature and respectable, but at the same time, there has to be a limit, or else all he is doing is adding to GenMays membership.
