Smooth Gaming with Triple Buffering ( 1 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Hey All,

There is a little application called DX Tweaker:
    http://www.ocworkbench.com/2006/articles/DXtweaker/

Of course there is a trade-off here, but if I don't enable any AA/AF, would it be a viable option?

    Thanks in advance.

I've read that you use triple buffering to counteract the negative effects of enabling v-sync (slower speed). It's supposed to open a third buffer (aptly named the z-buffer) so that more frames can be loaded into the memory. This way, frames won't be left out like they are when just v-sync is turned on (which is how the framerate is lower with just v-sync on).

It's supposedly fine to use as long as you have an acceptable amouont of video ram (all the 256's should be ok).

This is what I remember from the article I read a few days ago. Please let me know if something I said is incorrect.

  3. be careful with DXTweaker and BF2... I have seen reports of people banned for using tripple buffering, because Punk Buster htinks it is a cheat.
