Creating NFS Share in Windows? ( 3 Views )

1. Has anyone ever done this? I am looking to do this on my fileserver running 2003 Server R2 and wanted some recommendations.....Thanks!

2. Are you using Linux or Unix? I find it a lot easier to mount a Samba share in *nix than to mount a NFS share in Windows.

3. NFS has alot of advantages over SMB (with the only real downside being you got to make sure UUID/GID match local and srv)
   
   there is a unix services for windows (from MS for free) which enabled MS-OS's to interface with NFS
   
   but as Morfius said Windows plays alot nicer with Samba then NFS.
   
   All we can home is the EU ruling forces this to change

   Can Samba run in Windows? I guess the NFS support comes with Server 2003 R2 already....

5. Windows File Sharing = Samba (Kinda). Samba is an implementation of Windows file sharing. So, you can share your Linux file system like you would in Windows and make it appear to your network like a Windows box. You can also mount native Windows shares to your file system in *nix.

   What exactly are you asking? Setting up an NFS share is pretty straightforward...
