Who's on the wagon for an E4300? Yes 4300, at 1.8ghz and 800FSB. ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Looks like Intel will release an E4300 to compete with AMD's X2 3600+. I can't wait, the E6300 goes for 183 bucks, who can guess what the E4300 will go for? 140? and a 9X multiplier? OMG, folding rigs, here I come! :D Competition is great isn't it? Even though I own an AMD rig, I must say that AMD's been a bit cocky lately and this is exactly what it needs--to be silenced.

Silly dailytech. The E4300 has been on the roadmap (with a Q1'07 date) long before the 3600+ was announced a few weeks ago. It's not much of a counter if it comes out 4-6 months after the 3600+. :p

  3. AMD does seem to have clammed up pretty tight since the NDA lifted. I'm glad, it was not too long ago that it seemed like every week Ruiz or some other AMD executive had a new statement about "how Intel has nothing to compete with HT" and "we have performance to watt leadership". It always gave me the impression AMD was getting desperate, and it was getting pretty old. Perhaps Intel needs to challenge AMD to a "Dual Core Duel" now?

I bet it will go for about $140 like you said. The sooner we get some Conroe models down to Netburst-like prices, the sooner Netburst will be phased out. I'm certainly looking forward to it.

  4. and the sooner all those prices fall..the sooner us poor bastards with 939's and not a lot of money to dump can upgrade as well :D :p

  6. By the time this chip shows up Kentsfield will be out...just food for thought. I cheap chip is nice but it's going to be like buying a PD 805 at the end of Aug.

  7. See, Intel wont go to the level of making "public" challenges to test against their dual core, Intel has the public already doing it for them.

Nice. 133 will be nice, so probably around 100 for it on eBay. Then I'll grab a few and put them into folding! 2mb of cache is still nice, don't need 4mb for 3X the price.

  9. Just might convince me to dump my BH-5 and 165 :D

  10. So is the lack of Virtualization Technology a nonissue? I was thinking how I would use that but I don't know... just been hearing some hype about VT lately. Then again I don't know exactly what I would do with it... just would be nice to know I have it? :p

Isn't that exactly what they did when they ran preliminary benchmarks on systems they set up for tech review sites? Every company has a hype machine, let's not start pretending that Intel is better than any other company on this issue. They know their part is faster and cheaper, and they don't need to waste energy promoting it anymore for enthusiasts.

I have heard Q4 2006, but I have also heard the Q1 2007 rumors as well. Hopefully Q4 2006 is accurate.

Heh ya now they can probably answer their challenge with the conroe.

There were 3 talked about. Intel made a big fuss about about AMD and the low end. These are systems many business' buy for the secretary up a the front desk, some bean counters and shipping folks for example. Intel didn't like but when AMD rubbed their nose in it, it kind of pissed them off. I got this from a German guy talking to some Intel folks at computex think it was.

Why would there be Core 2 Duo i945P boards that only support 800MHz FSB? Hz is the only rumor I'm not willing to go along with. I'd heard that one and mentioned it.

There no mystery why AMD is feverishly working on Dual Core Sempron and even a 3600+ X2 and a Gap filler model 4000+ X2. Intel guys hinted a 1.6@800MHz FSB, 1.6@1066MHz FSB and the already talked about 1.8GHz@800MHz FSB. These were to be fitted to those same i945P and i946 integrated board and SFFs. These can go for about $150 for the board as processor. Since Intel's Clear View 3000, HD Audio, NIC/WiFi and V//V enabled. Add HDD, RAM, you favorite optical and you're set. There's even talk of Dell and HP only models @1.33GHz low voltage model in a HTPC that looks like a DVD player. A small thin DVD player.

I'm told folks saw these! Don't be surprised if Core 2 Solo isn't moved up as well. Will it have hyperthreading is the question?

I currently dobut the existance of i945P motherboards with only 800FSB support, that is what the 946 Series is for with the Conroe VRM.

Well unfortunately 946 is still based on ICH7 and won't have GMA X3000 which is a ICH8 motherboard product. I don't think there will be a Dual Core Sempron, only the x2 3600+ as the lowest solution AMD can achieve, on the intel side, E4300 should be enough, no need for E4200, E6200 as both are now inferior. Though I guess it would depend on how fast NetBurst inventory is cleared though.
