The $450 Poll ( 3 Views )

1. I'm going to have $450 to spend on a video solution for my up-coming Conroe build.
   
   Option 1: A single x1900XT or XTX.
   
   Option 2: A single 7900GTX.
   
   Option 3: 2 7800GTXs in SLi.
   
   Option 4: 2 7900GTs in SLi.
   
   I'm hoping the 7800GTXs hit the $225 range toward the end of August. That's where I'm leaning but, I thought I'd see the [H]'s opinion.

8. Single XTX now and then go crossfire later maybe. Crossfire has come a long way and seems equal to SLI right now. Can only get better from here as well. Once they get rid of the mastercard (should happen in the next few months), there is no advantage for SLI anymore.

9. Given the performance.. definatly an x1900XTX. The 7900GT SLI looks good.. but you may have to replace both up to 4 times each before you get a working card.
   
   Also by August the x1900XTX will be cheaper as the R580+ will be out by then.

12. Even though I'm a Nvidia guy- I would say an ATI 1900XTX would be your best bet if you're concerned about longevity (in terms of gameplay) of the card. You could get a 1900XT for under $400.00 now and use the extra $50.00 for more ram or a faster cpu.

    A single X1900XTX has the benefit of being fast in cases where SLI might not be, supports HDR+AA in the few titles that G7x cards don't and has 512MB local memory. 2 7900GTs have a lot of overclocking headroom and in SLI have very good performance.
    
    Getting either choice for $450 would be a good deal.

20. Now I might go with the X1900XTX but when I built my machine the 7900GTs seemed like a better deal cause they where the same price. (and they still suit me well)

    trust me dual card solutions are not good upgrade paths - ATI will stop making the x1900 master card and they will be impossible to find

28. Although I voted for a single X1900XT ot XTX, wait until you are actually within a day or so of buying the card to make a final decision. If you are looking at getting the card(s) at the end of August or so, it is possible that a single 7950GTX2 would be in your price-range by then. One 7950GTX2 is faster than 2 7900GTs in SLI and one X1900XTX IIRC. If not, then go with the X1900XTX.

31. I would get a $375 X1900XT. Or the HIS IceQ3 for $420. Prices from newegg. Cheaper, and spend the extra elsewhere.
