Home Network Help! ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Get this: I setup a home network between two computers in my apartment, sharing the connection on one ad-hoc with another, which worked fine. However, the next day when I booted the computers up, NO NETWORK! I ran the XP wizard about ten more times, played with settings, etc., but no dice, I couldn't even get them to see one another. I can't figure out what changed from the night before considering no one touched the computers to change any settings. Any idea what I should look for offhand? It would be a major help!

  2. Good news: the computers somehow began fighting it out over IP's, and now they can indeed see one another (share files) on the network. I can also see the internet connection under network connections on the client, which says it's connected. HOWEVER, the client, despite saying it's connected, will not connect to the internet or anything? Any ideas on this?

  3. You need to describe the physical network. How is the host computer connected to the internet. If there is no router then you will have to enable ICS on hosts connection to the internet(I'm assuming the host is hardwired to the internet(modem) and has an additional wireless card you are using for the ad-hoc setup.
