LANParty UT ATX Socket 754 Motherboard / LP UT NF3 250GB ( 2 Views )

Greetings everyone .......
Im thinking of getting a new mobo. As for expenses kinda on the budget. Wanna keep it below 120 or so. Anyhow i saw this Mobo with good reviews either being OC'd or not. Im not gonna OC and the reason im inquiring about this is because i currently have Agp cards and dont really wanna go the extra mile and sell my current and go stretch for Pci's. The only feature im gonna see doin upgrades are the Cpu and memory which is fine. Just want something faster that what i have now. So, into conclusion what Cpu would you recommend for this mobo. General use for this upgrade is surfing the net and gaming. Feel free to share your thoughts and recommendations and if theres a Mobo that's better and more reliabe w/ an Agp slot, pls post your comments.
Current Specs :
Mobo vi39L
P4 2.4 ghz ( 478 )
1.ghz mem
X800 pro Agp
AC h2o cooling
Thanks in advance

you can get a socket 939 board with an agp slot. asrock 939 dual sata2 has an agp slot and a pcie slot for if/when you upgrade. upgradeable to socket am2 i have heard. no reason to stick with s754 unless you can only afford a very inexpensive cpu. but you can get an opty 144 or a 3000 venice core maybe even a 3200 venice for less than $160.

The only board I can think of that's truly better than the Socket 754 DFI Lanparty is the socket 939 DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert. The SLI-DR is a nice board, but the UT250GB is untouchable stability-wise. It was pretty much the only nForce3 board that can pass 400MHz HTT. And most nForce4 boards cant hit that, unless they're made by DFI.
939 is only really useful for dual core or more than 2gb of RAM. Otherwise, you'd be hardpressed to find a difference in real world performance between 64bit and 128bit memory. Another solid option would be the nF4 DAGF or nF4 Infinity from DFI. Those are supposedly "budget" 939 boards, but they OC almost as well as their Lanparty series. Definately worth it if you want dual core goodness later on.

good luck finding a 250gb. dfi stopped manufacturing it last fall. and since the dagf and infinity series do not have agp slots, i would again suggest the asrock 939 dual sata2.
