PC froze, now it won't post - ideas? ( 3 Views )

1. Specs in sig.
   
   The last two days i've been experiencing random freezes. Its happend while watching a video, playing games, and listening to mp3s. The screen will freeze, and make a continuous "beeeeeeep" sound through the speakers.
   
   Right now the PC won't start back up again, and nothing will come up on the monitor at all when I do try starting it. I don't think it's due to an overheating CPU (my Opteron 165 is @ 2.4ghz), because it "should" at least post. My guess is the problem is mobo, or PSU.
   
   Suggestions?

2. Strip it down to minimum spec needed to post.
   Remove all drives, all cards bar the vid card, etc, etc.
   Leave only one stick of memory in.
   Reset to stock speed by clearing the cmos.
   Will it post ?
   
   Also check that all the fans are working and nothing is cloged with dust.
   
   If it wont post then you have a smaller number of parts (5) that could be bad.
