I'm currently running a 17" CRT - will the 2005FPW be a "wow" upgrade? ( 2 Views )

1. I can get the 2005FPW after tax and shipping for $400 flat (high taxes in TX). I'm currently running a non-flat 17" CRT. According the the math, I'll won't be gaining much height, but a lot of width. Will the upgrade be one that makes me go, "WOW, $400 was worth it!" Or will the difference in size be smaller than I'm expecting?

2. I think it will be a pretty "wow" experience for you. As well as the extra size, it's likely you'll be impressed by the extra res and screen real estate, the flatness and massive increase in sharpness compared with your CRT, as well as much improved vibrancy and colour saturation

3. Seeing as how Dell pulled the 2005FPW, and there's no way I can afford the 2007FPW, I'm guessing the upgrade is off :(

5. I just got my 2005fpw off ebay. I upgraded from and old HP 17 inch crt and it was WOW!!
   
   It looks like the Veiwsonic vx2025wm is a good lcd from reading stuff on this site. And you can get it for around $400.

6. I made the jump from a 17" CRT to a 20" widescreen and it isn't as wow as you'd think. The biggest wow is how wide it can be. The height isn't really changed much you just get a wider view. Text can seriously be TOO sharp though. The dot pitch is small enough that the text is too skinny. Overall though with more and more widescreen content coming it is TOTALLY worth it.
