2. This is an old PhysX demo Ageia was showing off about a year ago. As far as I know neither Ageia nor Sony has released any demos of Ageia's software running on Cell.

   Thanks for posting that - guess I really should have checked all the videos I bookmarked in my quest for PhysX stuff!
   
   This is the 'hangar' demo, most preview sites that have covered PhysX have played around with it - My money's on this being one of or the demo that ships with the retail package.
   
   Also, this couldn't have been shown last year as they only added pseudo-cloths in recently - I could be mistaken - but that's the only way the "bending steel" example could have been done.
   
   Edit: I was mistaken - pseudo-cloths were added last year.

   because it was released before the PS3 had even finished being designed? This is a demo showcasing the PhysX hardware, which is not present in the PS3. The only thing that PhysX has to do with the PS3 is that the API can be used if devlopers choose so.

    I especially liked the first (large scale destruction) demo movie, even though it included THE Make A Mess In Your Tidy Whities Moment in a demo movie. The plane flies into the hangar, runs into the Big Iron Ball, and promptly shatters. We see nothing of the plane's pilot (remotely-piloted plane?), but we find out, to our horror, that the plane had AT LEAST one bomb on board when we see said bomb headed for the catwalk that is our POV and is about to run into the trussing directly in front of us! Naturally, if this were any OTHER sort of demo, the bomb would explode (I even *expected* the bomb to explode), so what happens?

    Not merely a dud bomb, but the proverbial *empty* bomb casing!
    
    (Of *course* I *had* to choose the large WMV version.)
    
    Now I have to wonder: render farm or sourced from a real PC?
