DB-25 connectors ( 2 Views )
-
The family business is closing on a building and I was having a look around yesterday.
Plenty of netwroking. Whole building is networked with all leads terminating in a single "IT" room.
Odd thing is there are a lot of db-25 conenctors around at most of the desks? Most of the male connectors are missing pins. Maybe only 10 or so pins overall. Theres faceplates in the hallways with both male and female jacks. Any idea what something like this might be used for? I didn't see where any of the runs ended.
Thanks.

Token ring maybe?

Could be token ring but why? Most of the wiring runs for the stuff look pretty new.

I worked at a site a couple of years ago that still had some old HP terminals that connected to the mainframe with a db25 connector. Maybe it was somthing like that

Dummy terminals!!

Yeah I'm voting for some sort of serial terminal setup. rs422 or something like that.

They STILL use that sorta setup around here in some of the older hospitals...

I vote for some terminals like wyse.
Token Ring...the late iterations of it...you can't tell by looking.....same CAT5, NICs look the same, and the hubs look the same...RJ45.

Could very well be dumb terminals.
My only experience with them has been with ethernet. Didn't even think of older setups.

We have those at work (a hospital). They were for WYSE terminals
