7900gt @ 500/1500? ( 2 Views )

yeah, they are valid.
check out EVGAs website. they have the specs of each of the cards...

Mine was not a superclocked card and it runs stable much higher than that on stock voltage and cooling.
(FIRAT, Samoa)
Yea.. mine ran 550/1550 without a sweat... it was a regular old XFX 7900GT
(kübra, Turkey)
The 7900GTs ship serveral at different speeds:
450/1320 (reference, PNY, XFX standard, etc)
475/1360 (BFG OC)
470/1370 (XFX, XFX VIVO)
500/1500 (eVGA CO)
520/1500 (XFX Extreme)
550/1580 (eVGA CO SC)
550/1630 (XFX Extreme VIVO)
560/1650 (XFX XXX)
etc
and I think even faster ones are coming out. The 1.4ns memory on the 7900GT cards overclocks pretty well. I run mine at 875MHz (1750MHz effective).
The factory overclocked cards, especially the 500MHz+ versions, have the geometric clock delta reduced from 20MHz to 0MHz. It's not a big deal since the whole core is raised beyond the 470MHz stock geometric clock domain anyways. And you can overclock even plain 7900GTs pretty well. If you plan on overclocking anyways, you won't necessarily get a higher speed from a 500MHz version than a 450MHz version if you play with the geometric clock delta setting in NiBiTor. I barely got a 25MHz core increase out of my 520/1500 XFX Extreme.

My XFX 7900 GT is running at 561 core 1800 mem.
(Oğuzcan, Brunei Darussalam)
7900gts can run upwards of 650/700 mhz on the core with voltmods. The 90nm cores really can fly when you bump the volts to gtx levels.
What kills me is when people use coolbits and their memory shows up as 750 mhz they freak out thinking they got hosed.. Little do they realize how DDR memory works

Um, people have gotten upwards of 800MHz on the core and 2GHz on the RAM with volt mods done to the 7900GT.

How high would I be able to push a BFG 7900GT on stock voltages and stock cooler? I will never volt mod mine but in the summer I will get a new cooler if it is needed.
(Can, Cook Islands)
Which 7900GT should I buy? And someone please post links from Newegg or ZipZoomFly? Thanks.

Between 550 and 600 is average on stock volts and stock cooling, you might get a little higher in that range w/ aftermarket cooling.

eVGA = lifetime warrenty includes aftermarket cooling cant beat that. And they have the step up program.
You can get the CO or the CO Superclocked

Stock 7900GT running now at 570 / 1800

How is mine
I bought Gigabyte 7900GT and tested on 3dmark 05 and 06. Here's my result. Plz advice or comment. Everything is stock. No OC.
MB: A8N-SLI deluxe
CPU: Athlon x2 3800+
RAM: Kingston 1024Gbx2 KHX3200
HDD: Maxtor 80Gb (small i know)
PSU: Evergreen 450W
VGA: Gigabyte 7900GT
In 3dmark 05 I got some error "Display window lost focus" this score after this error message.
Here 3dmark 06

well i guess coming from a 6800 go to the rig on my sig, my gpu power will more than double!

my suggestion is that if you're bent on having an aladdin wallpaper.... at least find one at a higher resolution :p

^^ qft. heh.. that was funny. whew
ok, my cards in SLI OC just a tad beyond factory OC, which is 550/1630.. they go to 562/1700 without any issues.. I think the memory has more in it also.. I haven't pushed that really at all.. (I think the core maxed at 562 and stopped the detect opt freqs test). Anyways.. I am going to break these in at default speed for a week before pushing them more..
(Bedrettin, Bermuda)
what kind of differences are you guys noticing with these OCs? I mean, I play basically only cs and bf2, will i notice a difference from going from stock (500/1500 for me) to higher?
(serpil, Chile)
I know that these cards add about (just under) 10fps to my gaming in FEAR and Oblivion from my old 7800GTXs clocked at 540/1350.. so that extra 300mhz on the memory really helps!
(BETÜL, Antarctica)
Yeah, Thier good cards, I have two in SLI and together they will do 540/1700 completely artifact free, maby even 540/1750 tested it and it works without artifacts but I havn't gamed on it for very long.
Edit: But I could technicly send 1 back if I wanted to cause my second one at 520/1500 actually Artifacts at that speed but doesn't at higher, if I had to run it below spec then I would send it back but since the artifacting goes away at higher memory I'll run at higher memory.

what do u mean? I posted my result everything in default. Is it bad? Do I need to do bench with high resolution?
or Is it HARD FORUM rule to do with high resolution?

Thier just giving you crap about your aladin wallpaper, thats all.
Anyways your card clocks look fine, should try running 3Dmark05 again and see if you can get threw it without it crashing, also I like 3Dmark03 cause it helps me spot artifacting the best.
(müberra, Aruba)
yeah - that was it.. no biggie.. but you have to admit, posting here with a background like that is a pretty bold statement.. whew...(/me takes down Finding Nemo wallpaper, j/k).. anyways.. it's all good. and yeah, your clocks do look fine.. maybe get some more cooling on the card to help it maintain those speeds while benching. :D
EDIT: I used one of these for a long while and it worked very well for some additional cooling
