Just got a D50, took some sample pics...56K=grab a snickers ( 2 Views )

1. I went hiking with my dog on Saturday; unfortunately it had rained for a couple days straight before we went so we didnt get very far. It did give me a chance to take some pictures with my new D50 however, and I present them to you for comment. I'm still getting used to the camera so cut me a little slack. :p I chose the best out of about 70 that I took.

2. I like them. I want to get better at taking early morning and late afternoon shots without the sun blowing them out.

   Yeah me too. I didnt have a UV filter on when I took these (just got the camera) so I'm not sure at this point if that wouldve helped. Some of these are way overexposed.

   Nah most UVs' dont do a thing. And alot of them have color casts to them. Betten off with a good qualitiy circular polarizer . Great pics and, welcome to the Nikon DSLR club.

5. Some good pics, but the ones with the sun in them have really really blown highlights [from the sun].
   
   For shots like those where the sun is low in the sky and rising/setting I usually switch to spot metering and meter the sky just off to the side of the sun, or use matrix metering but don't include the sun inside the frame when metering.

6. Nice start with the camera. Consider a neutral density filter when shooting really bright scenes. Also, keep your aperture small to minimize blooming.
