looking for 120mm silent chassis fan ( 2 Views )

1. I don't see Zalman carry this. So, does anyone knows any brand name that guarantee silent on a 120 mm chassis fan (4.72 inch)?

2. I have a 120 from Antec... I can't guarantee yours will be silent but it's damned quiet.

3. First of all, what's the part no.?
   
   The computer that I spec. out, already c/w a 120mm fan. But that's the standard stock fan, it does the cooling but it's not that silent.
   
   Zalman in their web site, as you can see, they guarantee total silence, etc. So if it is not 100% silence, then perhaps I can get a fan bigger than 120mm in diameter that is 100% silence.
   
   Is there such a thing?

4. no fan is 100% silent, despite any guarantee. that's just marketing crap. however, some fans are very quiet when compared to the competition.

   these are two very quiet fans that i have personally heard or used. people also say good things about Panaflo 120mms, but i haven't used them myself.

5. I have three Yate Loons in my case and they are by far the quitest thing in my case (chipset fan and video card bieng loudest). They are not silent, but all you can hear is the wooshing of air.

6. It's funny. The one that says real silent is 1000 rpm. The other one is 1350 rpm, but it didn't say the word real silence on it, and no listing of the dB.
   
   Thank you very much for the info. I'll find a way to dig out the actual rpm of the computer's existing fan's rpm, and match one of the above to the current one w/ the closest rpm speed.

10. I personally use Yate Loon's D12SL-12 (1350 RPM, 47 CFM, 28 dBA), and I cant hear them over a 74gig Raptor and a D5 Pump. The Nexus real silent is basically a D12SL-12 @ 1000rpm, yet it costs twice as much.

If you look back a ways in this forum you will find a list of 120mm silent fans (prereq was no louder than 30dba if i remember correctly and could put out no less then 40cfm) check it out... last that i saw the Scythe S-Flex and Panaflo were the winners with the Yate Loons and Nexus close behind.

14. I would take another vote for the Yate Loons. Quality fans that are near silent. If silentpcreview likes them, then they are quiet! Those guys are awesome for PSU and fan reviews if you want to know about silence and performance.

15. These papst fans move a bit more air than the yate loons, but are still very quiet at 7V. I have been using yate loons, but thought I would give the papst a shot after seeing them on the silentpcreview recommended list. I am very happy with them. A plus is that I didn't have to cut them to use rubber fan mounts or mount to my SI-120.

16. I have 4 120mm Nexus Real Silent Fans (2 case, 1 CPU, 1 PSU). Only noise I get is air noise.
