Nvidia Firewall? ( 2 Views )

1. Is the nvidia firewall that came came with my asus a8n-e (nforce 4 ultra) decent? I was under the assumption that it was hard ware based, but you just have to install software to manage it?

   my friend uses the NV firewall and he seems to be fine with it...nothing serious has happened to him and the only thing he did was install the software that came on his dfi cd

3. a lot of people here have said its bad and steer clear of it and what not...i forget why...
   
   but on the safe side i just stuck to ZoneAlarm....hasnt let me down yet...

4. The NV firewall is annoying to say the least. It's so picky. My experience is that it blocks what you need and doesn't what you don't. I'd say steer clear of it.

5. It's actually a very VERY robust firewall....I think a lot of people stay away from it because it's so overwhelming, they get confused..and quickly run back to something entry level..like..ugh...ZoneAlarming. If you find it's blocking too much...then you probably have chosen the incorrect security level when setting it.
   
   nVidia hired 3COM to design it. ISCA Labs certified it.

   I read that some had problems with it corrupting downloads, but nvidia said it was fixed in 6.70, which im using, i guess ill try it out and see how it goes.

7. so far its working pretty good, no corrupted downloads, I play wow and no lag or disconnects (no extra lag or disconnects, besides blizzs crappy servers), I do get corrupted jpg's everyonce and a while but meh, going good so far.

8. well all hasnt went so well, after try the nvidia fire wall i do have to say that i wont be using it again, WoW started to constantly error, and sometimes would just stop responding in game, downloads wouldnt finish. I uninstalled the nvidia firewall switched to Zonealarm everything works perfect now.
