shuttle doesn't find my primary boot disk, works fine when i select it manually ( 2 Views )
-
so everything has worked good until couple days ago
when i start the system i get the no system disk error please insert system disk....
but when i hit escape (to access the boot menu) during bios screen and select "hard disks" and then "chanel 2 wd74......" everything boots fine.
this all started happening after my 300gig storage drive failed, than i replaced it w/ the same one and things still continue.
my bios boot settings are (and have always been)
cdrom
harddisk
(i disabled floppy and ethernet)
the system is a shuttle sn25 w/ latest bios, i have a 74 gig raptor for system disk, and a 300 gig wd for storage, opteron 165, 2x512mb corsair xms.

Inspect the mainboard... There are kits available for recapping the mainboard, just one thing to rule out when you have weird things happening in those shuttles...

I've heard the stock S-ATA cables have issues, most posts / guides recommend changing them to quality, brand name ones. Though this always applies to that YMMV rule as well. Good luck

Like MrkXCeL say's... change the stock SATA cables.... I did from the beginning... and no problems what so ever....
You might read this SN25 Guide ... it is great, and usefull.
