WTB - Sata raid ( 3 Views )

Well, it looks like I got screwed on Ebay again. The short story is I got a good deal on a sata card and as of now, its "lost" in the mail. I need the card as soon as possible so I'm not limiting the field of make/model/brand. Though I will say I'm not interested in SIG, Via or some of the other types of "generic" cards that seem to have a lot of bad reviews. In other words, my main concern is stability.
That said, the perfect card would be 3GB/s sata II, 64bit/66MHz as it would breath some new life into my aging MSI K7D. I know its old, but its about all I have, its also prolly worth more than I have to spend. I'll be running a couple of SAMSUNG SpinPoint P Series SP2504C, again, not the latest and greatest but they are sata 2 so it would be nice to match that with a sata II 3GB/s controller. If the price is right, I'd also be satisfied with something like a 1.5GB/s sata1, 32bit/33MHz. I just want to get this machine back up and running. If at all possible, I'd like to pay for and have it shipped tomorrow or Wednesday using 2-3 USPS priority mail. If you live close to Pennsylvania Thursday would be the absolute latest as I would like to have the weekend to install.
Thanks for reading this through,

no heatware, lots of ebay and several long time members here are RT friends... e.g. I'd get my butt kicked if I sullied any of their reps.

I need to clarify my finances. I keep forgetting there are quite a few people around here that use enterprise quality equipment. Cards like 3ware, Intel and Adaptec are going to be more than I can afford. To be honest, even an upper-end Promise card is out of my range. I'll probably suck it up and order the tx2300 for $59 from newegg. Damn my luck too, it had a $30 coupon on it up until yesterday, though the 3 year warranty adds a bit of comfort. I just hate to pay that much knowing that my intention is to get a card with raid 5. I would have even waited until I had the bucks to buy the right card, but I took the too good to be true route and bought one on ebay. Oh well, leason learned.
Too sumise, I was having dreams of cheap high end cards raining down from the sky when I posted earlier. Ebay should have woken me up, quality and in-expensive are rarly words that go together. I guess my cash tops out around $50, a 2 port card works and I'd probably be best served with an older, cheaper sata1 card for $20 and under. I can't afford what I'd want, damn I didn't want to say that outloud.
Thanks for letting me whine,

Pain
I feel your pain with ebay. So far I have better buying experience here then on Ebay. From what I have noticed that Ebay is over priced on computer parts

Yeah, you're not going to get an SATA II controller card worth it's salt for $50.
Either save up your money or get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815124020
Load up the drivers/firmware and have RAID5 at your disposal for under $30.
