Ultra X-Connect power cable 90 degree mod ( 2 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Hey all. I finally decided to clean up the 20 pin main cable for my X-Connect power supply. I took off the plastic cap months ago so I could route the cable more cleanly, but never got around to modding the cap.

First I drilled a pilot hole in the side, where I approximated the cable coming out.

Then I cut off the top bit that used to be the cable support.

Next I trimmed the clear plastic tubing and test fitted it.

Then assembled it, using a zap strap (I wanted to be able to restore it to a non-90 or reverse the 90 in case I change motherboards or cases) and a piece of electrical tape over the hole (I know, not the prettiest solution, but it works and doesn't look too bad).

And finally, I reinstalled it into my case.

I have some other ideas about how to clean up the cables a bit more... but that'll be later.

  3. i'd like to have seen the cable shortened. but nice mod none the less.

  4. Yeah... didn't really want to do that, cause if I keep this power supply for a new case or motherboard, it'd be too short most likely.
