Evga 6800GS AGP Driver Issues ( 1 Views )

1. Hey, as the topic suggests, I can't seem to get this thing installed properly. I know it's a relatively new card, but I had read that nobody was having problems with the beta 82.12 drivers, but they don't seem to be working for me.
   
   The advanced video options (when you right click on desktop) all look fine, I can access the special features of the card and configure stuff... but in device manager it's being shown as an unknown vga adaptor.
   
   It plays all my games but it's stuttering alot, no matter what quality level I run things. My system is an amd xp-m athlon @2.2ghz @400fsb. My radeon 9800pro was running better than this is now, so it's obviously some type of driver issue. I have not unlocked or overclocked this card in any way, it's completely stock. The 82.12 beta's went in fine, I received no errors and rivatuner can see the card and it's specifications. I'm guessing that windows is just freaking out for some reason or another, and I don't know why.
   
   My question is whether this is just something that others are experiencing or if it's just me, and any suggestions would be appreciated.

   i think you should use driver cleaner and delete all the hidden files from ati drivers then reinstall your nvidia drivers.. that usually helps

3. yes, i have used driver cleaner. I've removed all nvidia drivers and ati drivers through control panel, installed all the nforce drivers fresh and tried to install the vid drivers to no avail.
   
   I recently had a problem with a power supply, which fried my dvd burner as well as my 9800pro. I"m thinking it might have messed something up with this mobo as well... which would be total suck.

4. its the old 6800 series studder, not surprising. the old 66.81 drivers used to fix them but with that gs i dont know if they will work. give them, a try. if that doesnt work look in the 6800 500 page thread and try everything else in there

5. Try setting AGP apeture to 256 and disable write combining.

6. I've tried installing those drivers and I get an error msg saying that I don't have the proper hardware, or something along those lines.
   
   By write combining I assume you mean fast writes? I've checked the bios, rivatuner and the display properties for the card and did not see that option anywhere. I changed the aperature to 256 and disabled fast writes, i saw no difference, so I'm guessing it's somethign else.

7. No, write combining - right click on desktop, go to properties, advanced, troubleshooting, uncheck write combining.
