Pentium D or AMD X2? ( 4 Views )

1. So I am considering getting a dual core cpu, and keep in mind if I went with the x2 I would have to get new ram too because I have DDR2 ram right now, anyone have any benches between say the Pentium D 920 and the AMD X2 3800+? With both i would have to get a new mobo, or should I wait until a new core comes out...I can wait, but I dont want to spend over $300 on the chip. Try not to turn this into a flame war.

4. When 939 came out there were Athlon 64 3000s for $175. Thirty-two hundreds cost $200. I don't think AMD is going to start the next round at $350; their entire model of business is cost:performance, and they're not going to expect everyone to want $350' worth of performance. And just the same, even if they start at two-fifty you'll not only be able to buy one, but save the difference on memory.
