A8N32-SLI + Maxtor Hard Drive Users..HELP ( 1 Views )

1. hey there
   
   seem to come across a problem with maxtor hard drives and nforce4 motherboards..specifically the asus a8n32-sli..
   
   i currently have a Maxtor 200GB DiamondMax 10 7200RPM SATAII w/ 16MB Cache 6V200E0 with 2x 300gb version on the way..
   
   i am having problems with the system hanging at the 'welcome to windows xp' display during post..
   
   just wondering what people have been doing to fix this as i have seen people in the a8n32-sli build thread running these same drives.

2. Not sure what the problem is. I have an A8N32-SLi with 2x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 16mb cache 250gb SATA II drives, and they work perfectly fine. Did you do a fresh install, or was it just a mobo switch out?

3. I dont think its HDD problem, maybe problems at chipset driver.
   maxtor 300gig, hang at windows loading screen

4. hmmm...WELL seems like i fixed it..
   
   i did another install of windows..but before actually booting from the xp cd first...i ran fdisk to clear the partitions manually..
   This seemed to solve the problem...weird...
   but i am glad that i didnt have to switch hard drives or any of that jazz
