Xbox 360 mouse and keyboard ( 2 Views )

1. This site was set up to run a poll and hopefully convince Microsoft and developers to create and support a mouse and keyboard control setup for the 360. http://xboxmouse.com/

3. I know the mouse doesn't work, but any USB keyboard works just fine.

5. As much as I love my mouse and keyboard for computer gaming. God that would suck if the xbox360 had it. I cant image sitting on my couch with a mouse and keyboard. It would kill half the console games.

   but still, there should be a way to make some modification to allow a mouse and keyboard to work, modders have done far more advanced things than that.

7. That would give the mouse/keyboard guys a major advantage in FPS's. It's a lot faster than the controller. So to keep an even playing field, I doubt it will happen.

8. Correct. It never will happen, MS has set it in stone. There are many reasons for it... but the only time you'll ever plug in a keyboard to the X360, is if you plan on chatting (i.e. MMORPGs) with the keyboard.

    But... none of the games (the real, retail games) will be programmed to use a keyboard/mouse as a controller, so unless you mod the box, and homebrewers make games that allow KB+M usage, you're shit out of luck. It's a console, not a PC.

    Have you used the JoyFrag in Halo or any other FPS on a XBOX?
    The games don't need to be programmed for it.
    
    Its just a little box your plug a mouse and keyboard into and translates that input so your console thinks its a controller. Then it has preset configs and some are programmable. So your mouse is the R stick, W,A,S,D is the D pad or L stick. Y, X, A, B are different keys on the keyboard.

    Works great. Only problem I had was in Halo 2 flying aircraft. With the controller you can push the R stick in a direction and hold it there. This makes the aircraft continually turn. With a mouse you have to push left and pick up the mouse and push left again and again.
    Its definately easier to aim though.

    What'll happen when the joystick kiddies pick up the same keyboard+mouse? If you can't beat them on an even playing field, getting a hardware advantage is a transient advantage.

19. It would turn 360 into essentially a mini computer. This is against Microsofts wishes, as they want Xbox 360 to be as much like a computer as possible, without the moniker.

20. The reason for not putting out mice and keyboards for consoles.. could be because the companies don't want people to be at a disadvantage when playing games
    
    in other words.. companies don't want to force you into buyinga keyboard and mouse to play halo because if you don't, eveyon else will own you...

21. MS knows of the JoyFrag. There was an article/interview with Alred about when the Xbox360 rumors were just starting and he mentioned the JoyFrag and how they were going to make sure that something like that wasn't going to be usable on the Xbox360.
