X850 XT PE PCI-e to 7800GT ( 2 Views )

1. How much of a performance gain can I expect if I upgrade to a 7800GT?
   
   I do not want to pay for a GTX or an X1800XT, but I want a small upgrade as long as I am waiting for the DX10 cards to be released.

4. There's definitely a difference, but the difference isn't HUGE. You might want to get a GT that comes pre-overclocked, like the EVGA GT CO 470/1100. I've heard they oc pretty well too. At that point, you're getting performance just about equal to a GTX, so the difference between that and a X850 would be more significant.

6. I have my X800GTO2 oc'ed to X850XT PE speeds and I don't plan on upgrading until next gen cards are out (eg. 8800, x2900xtx :) )
   
   I even had a 7800GTX before I got this.. and I can't tell the difference much between the two so why pay such a huge premium on minimal performance gain? Save for the future :cool:

7. I went from an X800 Pro Vivo that was flashed to an X800XT PE and running at 575/560 (making it on par with an X850XT PE) to a 7800GT. The difference was noticeable, but not enough to really warrant the hassle. THe only reason I made the jump was because I wanted a better overclocking motherboard, so I had to make the jump to PCI express.

8. I did just this. I think it was worth it considering I didn't have to pay much for it after selling my old card and I got CoD2 free with the video card. Newer games run much smoother at 1280x1024 with AA/AF.
