  2. Not necessarily.

There are two prevalent methods of PSU setups in todays US PC's.

    1. One is a world generic power supply that has a switch on the back that says 115 or 230 and you switch it to the appropriate setting. (Such as Enermax power supplies that that have the "P" in the model number, such as my EG565P-VE FMA, note the P after the 565).

    2. New APF supplies that have active power factor circuits that auto switch to 115 or 230 (such as the Enermax Liberty, and other Enermax power supplies that have the AWT extension on their part number). No switch exists and the supply shows the rating to cover the 115 to 230 volt range. These are the primere supplies no matter where you live as the APF ensures stable voltage to the chipset like non-other (note that I'm refering to the APF tecnology in general as the premier, although I really do like Enermax).

If you have the first type, make sure that it's switched to 230 "BEFORE" you plug it in, or you'll smoke it. Once changed, place tape over the section to prevent children, etc from playing with that recessed switch.

To be 100% sure though, send a question to the technical support team of the company you'll be purchasing from and they can ensure that you are using one of the above and how to double-check the setting before plugging in.

    Have fun!
