Help me turn off C&Q ( 3 Views )
-
Very often, flash games dont exceed the threshhold to push my 3500+ above the 1Ghz C&Q level. Even though they aren't utilizing more than 25% of the processor, there is a noticeable slowdown when it is clocked down to these levels. This may sound absurd, but I really need that performance increase, as I play alot of competitive FFR and TacticsArena which are flash based. Therefore I wish to disable C&Q and always have my processor running at 2.2Ghz
I'm fairly sure I have C&Q disabled in the BIOS of my MSI K8N. However, the AMD proccessor driver that I have installed continues to provide C&Q functionality.
After uninstalling the driver and rebooting, the processor reads as a constant 2211mhz in CPU-Z and I see a performance increase. The only thing I'm worried about is Device Manager didn't find the default driver for an AMD processor and it has that little exclamation point over the processor signaling that there's a driver issue. I don't want to re-install the AMD drivers as it will enable cool and quiet again. I just don't feel safe running my processor in an environment where no driver is present.
Do I have anything to worry about?
How can I get it to install the driver that I had before installing the AMD driver?

Yeah, I installed it thinking it was going to boost performace or OC or somthing, but now I see they aren't really neccissary.
Is leaving with a driver conflict safe?
(where it has that yellow exclaimation point in device manager)

I'm on a different comp right now, sorry I can't test it immediately. I'll report back when I have a chance to try it out.

It will work, and leaving the driver is no problem :)

tactisarena seems interesting

Yeah Tactics Arena is great.
It started as a tech demo to show that you could do a "3D" isometric tactics game in flash, and he submitted it to newgrounds. He actually modeled each charachter in 3dsmax.
Then he finally completed the multiplayer version and realized he could make some cash for his hard work by selling accounts that contained special peices. After a while the servers became too hard to control and most people play on the mirror that I linked to.
I would reccomend checking out his site which has the original server for TAO as well as information on other projects: http://www.digisonline.com/

It worked! When I put it back on Home/Office Desk it stays at 2.2 all the time.
I even re-installed the latest driver and it still doesn't underclock. Thanks for reminding me of that, I forgot I had changed it when I installed the driver. The performance increase is definitely noticeable.
(sorry for the double post)
