no kitty!
  1. Is there any software, preferable free, that will take info from a sites web.log and sort, manipulate it.

    (birisi, Northern Mariana Islands)

  2. I use OpenWebScope which is shareware, the only real restriction being that you cannot add more than three websites to the list which you would like processed (note that's websites that are restricted, not logfiles)

It produces very neat graphs, and details errors, referring urls, a pie chart of search engine keywords, also a list of the top search engine keywords, referring sites, os's, browsers, most & least accessed pages, day, hour, month and much much more!

You can customize how much information you would like to appear, like the last 100 IP Addresses can be increased to as many as you like.

I strongly recommend OpenWebScope. Give it a try and let us know how you get on.

(Edit: I should have mentioned that it is a Windows based log file analyzer, but it will log onto the website to retrieve the log file if required.)

  3. OpenWebScope is a great piece of software. FastStats offers a bit more and produces results that are slightly better, but it is not free (there is a trial). FastStats can be found at http://www.mach5.com/products/faststats/index.html

Both FastStats and OpenWebScope will not manipulate or sort the raw log files. Instead, they analyze it and provide easy-to-understand results.
