I'd like to gather some impressions of this script, please ( 4 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Hey everyone

This is something I'm actually doing for work, but I thought I'd share it with you as I'd like to make it available for public use once it's finished. It's not complete now, but coming along nicely (I asked about the existence of such a script a week ago or so - none did so I've been writing this off-and-on since then).

    The AureusRTE Javascript Class

I'm hoping maybe somebody here will know a thing or two about some of the errors I'm getting, plus I'd just like to get a general impression of how it's going so far. All the dope is on the page.

Try not to be too harsh!

  2. Ya - I can add that in as a toolbar button easily.

  3. How about sourcecode view as an option?

    (sadık, Sri Lanka)

  4. Okay. I made some updates before the weekend hits. The ediitor now updates the toolbar based on the current cursor position. (Well, a couple of the dropdowns don't work, but hey, it's 5 o'clock on Friday!)

I sped some things up, added language support, and styled the toolbars differently in the demo, so you can they that they are completely independant.

I still gotta add the fore/background colors, and a couple other things, like capturing the Ctrl+shortcutkey events in Mozilla.

    That's about it for now.

  5. Very interesting. I'll be sure to be on the lookout once it is released.

  6. Yes, I'll be able to offer it once it's done.

  7. so will this end up being a free script?

    (jigolo, Madagascar)

  8. Ya - since uploading this I've looked at HTMLArea3 some. It's definitely more complete than mine. Besides that, the only other difference is that mine is a bit more flexible/easier for customizing the toolbars, especially for multiple editors on the same page with different toolbars/options (which is exactly what we needed here at work, which is why it's a feature).

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'll be back in a week or so with another update. :D

  9. Nice Beetle!

    (levent, Oman)

  10. Well, Generally speaking, it is similar to htmlArea 3, which supports Mozilla as well, and I don't know exactly how to fix the problems (I wrote an IE-only RTE a while ago, but IE doesn't have those problems).

I'm wondering how this will stack-up in terms of cost, etc, mainly because for the next version of Deluxe Portal we will be looking for a Mozilla compatible RTE.

    Edit:

When you click to insert an image, and then click cancel, it inserts a bad-image.

  11. Wow, beetle. Excellent design!

I've looked at some of your code before, and I'm always impressed with such clean, readable code.

I'm afraid I haven't had time to look too far under the hood - perhaps later.

    Excellent work!

  12. Thats pretty nice! More than I could ever hope to do!

  13. Oh, and changing the context menu in the edit area could be a neat little fix too:
