Hottest available NVIDIA AGP card? ( 1 Views )

What is the best Nvidia AGP card available right now?
(caner, Congo)
6800 Ultra
(azraill , Poland)
get pci-e man agp is dead.
(necla, Luxembourg)
whats the processor? older athlon xps and slower pentiums bottleneck a 6800 ultra.
yes pci-e is the way to buy but sometimes it cost to much to do.
(ugur, Pakistan)
X850 XT PE - best AGP
X800 GTO2 - best value
EDIT
my bad, thats in general. and I dont think the GTO2 comes in AGP
for Nvidia, the GS new but if you can find somethin used I'd pull a 6800gt or ultra
(tuğçe, Myanmar)
Specs are:
AMD 64 3200 939 pin
1 gb corsair xms
asus a8v
evga 6800
I just built this less than a year ago and find it hard to spend money on another mobo so soon. I love this video card but want MORE (I have only had it a month). I was hoping evga would come out with something hotter in AGP but I don't have much hope. I don't have faith that the GS will come out in AGP.
Where did you find the 6800 ultra?
I plan on selling my 6800 for $150 and spending about $150 more
(perihan, Mayotte)
I'd buy a used 6800gt or Ultra from evga.

Oh ya I know its so dead that you cant play any of the games out or coming out on a 6800Ultra...and Im sure he just has plenty of money to replace his motherboard/cpu/ram and graphics card all at once.
Go with a BFG 6800 Ultra OC
(ünal, Guinea)
yea, as was stated, 6800 series...anything better is PCIe only. Seriously look into PCIE, you will need it oneday anyways...a 6800 might be a "dead end card" at this point.

Only if you're trying to play games at 800x600 or 1024x768. Play at 1600x1200, and the GPU will almost always be the bottleneck. The only case in which you might see CPU bottlenecking is in very heavily cpu limited games (eg. Fear) and even fear would run fine as long as you turn the physics down.

Seriously don't. Either get a 6800GT AGP which you can get for less than $200 bucks (ultras are still expensive IMO) now or save your money for next generation PCIe.
Why? simple, Next year AMD and Intel will release new CPU sockets which are 100% incompatible with current CPUs. So if you get PCI-e now and want to upgrade your processor later guess what? new mobo/ram/cpu. Your A64 and 6800 still has some mileage left so unless you really need the extra juice save your money for next year.

better get the AGP ultras and GTs quick.... nvidia already ceased to tape them out

You're not going to get a "whole lot better" for AGP. The 6800nu's are already decent cards.
Did yout trying unlocking it to a "6800 GT" ?
That gives you a nice little boost in performance. Not as good as a real 6800GT with faster ram. But mine does 380/800 with all 16 pipes enabled. http://www.crowdcontrolusa.com/overclock/mirage.html
4,500 in 3dMark 2005 : http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1356150
(eren, Slovenia)
DONT get a 6800Ultra WHY pay all that extra $$$ when you can buya 6800GT that will almost 99% garuntee O/C to Ultra Speeds and beyond and it already has all the pipelines open.
But yes that 6800 Vanilla might be able to be unlocked to a 6800GT i think...

good point. Guess it depends on how far down teh line you are looking.

I agree about waiting on upgrading the mobo.
I am overclocking the card but can not unlock the extra pipes. Not sure if I know how?

download rivatuner form guru3d. all you do is unlock shader and pipes from that
(gamze, Liechtenstein)
im planning on getting a 6800 series card as well but I have a 2.8c processor... would that be a bottleneck on fear? I really want to play it at least 1024x768 with high settings, but not looking at upgrading everything yet. I have a radeon 9800pro and I get 51fps average on doom 3 on high quality 800x600 2x AA.
(gökhan, Sweden)
Just unlock your 6800 to a 6800 Ultra with Rivatuner...you'll save money.

What menu or area do i go toin rivatuner to unlock the shader and pipes?
(fatih, Kuwait)
clock on the top arrow next to "customize" and a strip of icons should show, click on "low-level system settings" then click on the "NVstrap drive tab and at the bottom where it says "graphics processor configuration" change active pixel/vertex units configuration to custom, check both boxes that say "allow enabling hardware masked units" and "unlock professional capabilities" and click on the customize tab and you should see sort of lik a spread sheet and check off on the left the units that say YES "HW masked" column
(funda, French Polynesia)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
I did it, I am just typing this before I go see how uch more I can turn up in COD2.
I had seen that option to turn on the NVStrap driver but never did.
(mehmet, Germany)
go download atitool, install it and scan for artifacts
(osman efe, Northern Mariana Islands)
is it bad to have coolbits and rixatuner both installed?
Can one do both?
ATITOOL??? isn't that for ati cards?
oc'ed to 390/860
(yücel, Uganda)
yes, you can have both rivatuner and coolbits installed at once.
and yes, you can use atitool on nvidia cards.
(yağız, Cayman Islands)
I am ocing in nvidia control panel to the limit of the test? Is this what everyone does? No artifacting in atitool. about 320 fps
400/870 now

You're welcome for the great idea! :)
So how much more performance did you get?
before & afters ? ???
(muzaffer, Bahamas)
I basically went from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 with about 120fps in COD2 multiplayer.
I also have on everything lighting and medium, medium, high textures with 4xaa, astropic on, but directx 7. directx9 kills my fps in multiplayer. i run it in single player with 2xaa.
pretty good performance, i just wish i could turn up the textures all the way.
I think my next investment will now be in a good crt 19" monitor. Now I am using a Gateway2000 EV700
