Line-ins that actually work? ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Does anyone know of some popular motherboards with analog Line-ins that actually work? My old SocketA NF7-S has a line-in, but in the NVidia control panel for the on-board audio, all it shows is a record input and a "digitized" input:

When I select Line-In from the "Digitized Input" drop-down menu, and feed analog sound to it, like a portable CD Player, it becomes very scrambled. I believe this can't be changed, and it may be time to Upgrade to Socket 939 anyway, so are any motherboards known to have a working analog input?

  2. This is just a random suggestion, but could you try running it through the mic input and see what you get?

I haven't tried Line-In on my s939 board. I use an old P4 875P board for my Line-in audio recording, so I'll have to move it over and see if it works.

  3. If you have the microphone plugged in the mic port, mute the Line Input.

That doesn't make any difference at all.

I've tried using the microphone as line-in, because usually it plays back what's going through the microphone. Problem is, I'd really like to be able to use Line-in AND microphone at the same time.
