ram recommendation ( 2 Views )

no kitty!
  1. hey guys,

its time to go 2x1gb pc4000

what ram do you think is the best for amd64 rig in my sig, i want to get my cpu and ram to 250MHz, i know my cpu is no problem for this, but i need to be able to get the ram to that speed at or under 3v as my mobo has that limitation

is the crucial ballistix the best for this right now?

  2. ballistix is best if you want to really really push it. if you need 250mhz and no more..

  3. can anyone confirm that they were able to get their ballistix tracer memory to 250 on the a8n sli premium?

  4. anyone?

  5. the 1gb ballistix is RATED for 250mhz, so i would hope it'll run at those speeds..

however, i know the asus a8n to be a board that has issues with 1gb sticks, normally you'll have to drop to 2T to get it working properly :(

  6. well my corsair is rated that as well, but i can't get it there because i can only go to 3 volts

  7. Only VX and Redline is actually rated higher than 2.9v, so not goin over 3 shouldn't be an issue. My ballistix runs great, highly recommend it.

then either something is wrong with your ram, and it should be replaced, or something is wrong with your rig, and not much ram will be able to break that 240mhz limit you have ;)

  9. that looks like some nice ram..good price too...does this have a problem with DFI mobosand dividers and voltage blah blah blah lol

depends on a lot... like your cpu, the bios you're using, even the batch of ram chips :(

  11. If i had latest bios and 3000+ Venice....

whoa this ram business is CRAP lol...

i guess you can return it and get new ram if it doesnt work? or do you think newegg has RAM from the same batch so it wouldnt be worth it..have to buy it from somewhere else eh?

    (buse, Hong Kong)

  12. well, most likely if one set of ram doesn't work with dividers in your rig, another won't.. however, i've never come across a set that wouldn't play well with dividers in all my testing, it's just a matter of tweaking the more obscure timings in the bios sometimes :D

side note: good luck with that g.skill, be sure to have fun with it too

  13. Also i just found out that i think g.skill has a PDF/info on the optimal settings for its RAM..ill look into it. On one of the newegg reviews a guy said he had problems with his DFI board till he read on the g.skill website about optimal settings..and no problems after.

well my current ram is rated 250 at 2.75v, but when i get above 230, i need to start raising the voltage, or so it seems

does this most likely mean that my ram or mobo have an issue, as I should be able to get to 250 @ 2.75v?
