quake 4 vs fear ( 3 Views )

1. i want to know which one yall think is better. i am prob going to buy both of them but i want to get the better of the two first. also should i get the reg version of the directors cut of each one of them?

4. Quake 4 for sure...I hated FEAR...everything was just so...lame and boring. I liked Quake 4's art style and scenery more...everything was just more interesting. FEAR was just...BORING.

6. I have to disagree with the "boring" argument. The AI in fear is the best in any game ever. It will not disapoint (unless you are a hater). Quake 4 is a good game, but nowhere near fear. I bought both around relase time. I have played through fear twice. I am still not done with quake. Nuff said.

7. On the other hand, I have played Quake 4 twice, but still can't seem to finish Fear(i'm at the very last part). Especially with my having so much fun with Need for Speed MW, I just can't justify playing Fear. Everything in Fear seems like you've seen it over and over again. Incredible AI and particle effects can only occupy you for so long when nearly every environment in the game makes you think you've seen it before. The textures also have a flat plastic like feel to them.
   
   Quake 4 was just a beautiful game, especially the outdoor levels. I also liked the faster pace of action, and the fact that you wern't fighting the exact same 2 enemies over and over again.

8. After playing through the (OPINION! SIMPLY AN OPINION) no-substance gameplay of Q4 I'd have to vote FEAR. Although I have my issues with it's pacing about midway through, it picks back up and becomes an awesome game.
   
   Quake 4 is not holding my interest,
   Q4 is definitely faster paced, and it's got cool factor to it definitely, but my vote is on FEAR.
   
   Personally I think Multiplayer sucks on both ends.

10. fear is having things jump out at you, kinda like RE meats HL2 meats Max payne (bullet time)

12. Having played th rough both more than once I have to say that FEAR has a more gripping story and is like playing a movie like the ring or the grudge. It has good AI and decent pacing for what it is trying to do. On the other hand Q4 is just . . . FUN. It is an old school run and gun with some squadies added in and I had more "wow" moments in Quake than I did in FEAR. In essence I finished FEAR because I wanted to know how the story ended and Q4 because it was good old fashioned fun.

18. I got Quake 4 and FEAR, and I must say that fear only kept me entertained for a few hours. QUake 4 on the other hand had me itchin to finish it and play it again. Much better game than fear. Fear lost its 'spookyness' the 3rd or 4th time the little girl ran across the hall or whatever, or laughed like a maniac.

19. played through fear 3 times ..great game .. it does drag a bit in middle , but I think the story is great ..kinda ring meets akira storyline ..great visuals .blah, blah
    
    I am now playing Quake IV and at first I wasnt really getting into it ..but it's getting funner the farther along I go... game is great looking but after playing fear ...it felt like I was being pushed thru the levels and nothing really was sinking in as far as storyline, just seemed like I was mindlessly shooting onward and then ..oh , there's the exit...what happend ...
    
    
    ..but now I'm getting into it more and like said , the farther I go , the funner its getting for me.
    
    
    both games meet different likes and are on different levels from eachother ...one is not necessarily better than the other ..they are just different

    IMO, no. The "making of FEAR" video was decent but you could probably just download it from somewhere. The rest of the bonus material was blah.
