Ram slots and Overclock (read before vote!) ( 2 Views )
-
Talking to CCU, an important issue suddenly came to light in my mind. an issue important enough that i think i would make a poll on it and ask people to do some SERIOUS testing on the matter to give me a real answer
simply put, i am asking this:
Does your maximum stable overclock at given timings and voltage change when you swap your ram sticks
for example, let's say i have two sticks, call it stick 1 and stick 2, and 4 ram slots. i use slots 1+3 for best performance.
stick 1 in slot 1 + stick 2 in slot 3 gets X mhz
stick 1 in slot 3 + stick 2 in slot 1 gets Y mhz
if X and Y are different, vote yes. if not, vote no.
also, comments on specifics and how much it changed stability would be nice :D
(sedat, Western Sahara)
with them in x in 1 and y in 3 i got like 210 max despite voltage.
with y in 1 and x in 3, i got 245 with 3.33v .
id get 110ish errors in test 5 each pass. big difference? yes!

i've gotta try this myself now :p
ccu, you should write 1 and 2 on the sticks with a sharpie or something :D

ohh i plan on it, and bump. lets get more data!
