What video card should I get? ( 2 Views )

1. I am looking to upgrade my video card and am wondering what I should get. I need an AGP card and can only spend about $150 (wife won't let me spend anymore than that :( ). I looked around on the for sale forums, but I am not really sure what would be the best for the money.
   
   Also, do I need 256mb of video memory, or is 128mb adequate? My old card was a FX 5700 with 256mb. It still runs most games (I play BF2 with a playable FPS when I jack down the settings), but I am looking to upgrade my performance a bit.
   
   So, what do you think? Obviously with my budget I am not going to get the greatest card out there, but I am sure I can upgrade quite a bit.

2. You have a variety of options in and around that price. It depends on what you are doing. Are you gaming? If so, what games are you playing? Do you care whether you get ATI or Nvidia?
   
   The 6600GT, vanilla 6800, and the X800GT all fall close to your price range. All of those cards would be a good upgrade over a 5700. They are all sub-$200 at Newegg.

3. ATI or nVidia is no big deal to me. I use it mostly for gaming. Right now I am addicted to Battlefield 2. I don't buy new games too often either, so I will likely be playing that for 6 months or so.
   
   So, of those 3, which would be the best. And do I need 256mb or is 128mb ok?

4. Of those three I would think that the X800GT would be your best bang for buck.

   $173 for the X800GT. If you can go up to $200 then I would consider the X800GTO (little faster, more pixel pipelines).
   
   The x800GT would run BF2 fine.
