I must be ignorant because I thought that 3DMark always favored ATI.
(......., Sao Tome and Principe)

In single cards sure, but that is with SLi, and no ATi card can meet 7800GTX in a SLi config.
(kübra, Niger)
$300 for a 7800gtx? Where?

(kerem , Bolivia)
Thats fuckin insane.
(slkslk, Greece)
NEGATIVE 171C
-171C
What?!?!?! He broke 3 3DMark records with insane overclocks. He should try to be the first one to reach absolute zero also (0 K). He's not far off. Jesus christ. Incredible overclocks. 3.9GHz on the FX 57. I'm very impressed.
(ilkim, Thailand)
Once those cards warm up the water will break them......

Your joking about absolute zero right?
(emel, Suriname)
absolute zero equals something like -273*C right (I'm not one for Kelvins :D)? I'm more impressed with the near 4GHz cpu speed personally...

Yeah, those cards are definatly toast. I guess he had some money to burn.
-171 celcius is INSANE. That's colder than any place on earth. That's colder than some of the planets in our solar system.

Absolute ZERO equals ZERO kelvin :p
Kelvin=celsius-273
absolute zero would be impossible to achieve, since scientists can't even reach absolute zero yet (were at like 9x10^-6 or some low number like that)
Congrats to that guy who achieved what we all dream of.
(mustafa, Lithuania)
Wow, people are willing to kill their extremely expensive video cards to get a score that means absolutely nothing. Oh well, so long as he is happy, more power to him.

I wonder why he didn't take some precautions to prevent the moisture from condensing/freezing on the cards. It would not be that hard to build an enclosure around the mobo, and use a small metal cup filled with ln2 to remove all the moisture from the air. As the ln2 boils, it would create a positive pressure in the enclosure that would keep moist air from re-entering (small hole to let n2 gas escape would obviously be required).
Then you could chill the cards with no further condensation on the cards at all.
(serdar, Croatia)
you guys he didn't buy all that stuff, it's called sponsors
(recep, Palestinian Territory, Occupied)
I would imagine when he is done he could just pull the power, it will get wet but once it completely dries it should be fine.

Not Impossible, in a sence, you can get really really close it it, close enought to technicly "say" you've gotten to it, but once you reach is everything stops moving so it kinda breaks things :P

Well if he can get his cards in the middle of outter space without any light or energy sources within a million lightyears he could hit 0K and probably break... 20k in e-penismark05!

Except temperature isn't the problem obviously.
I'm surprised that it can even operate at such low temps. The properties of semi conductors and conductors are temperature dependent.
Temperature is just the measure of the average kinetic energy. Absolute 0 = no kinetic energy. The very atoms just stop moving.
(ilker, Algeria)
Kinc is one of those dedicated benchers out there. Not sure if he even plays games. His system is for purely for benchmarking. Talk about an extreme hobby.
And, he will have two of the 512 MB GTX's on his doorstep before we see one. So, he will push the records out even further once those arrive!

Good idea, but not very practical is it?

And pouring liquid nitrogen on you gpu's, just to get a high benchmark score is?
I personlly think this is a HUGE copout.. its only a temp fix and in no way could be used as a real life solution.

Temporary fix? What the hell are you talking about - these guys arent in the business of "real-life" solutions. You dont break records with Arctic Cooling silencers  :D

Then whats the purpose?
If thats the case, I need to strap a jet engine to the back of my pinto and break the quartermile record for sports cars..
(BERKAN, Cocos (Keeling) Islands)
i'm jealous Oh, and onto the pinto comment; how do you think they set land speed records? They dont just takea porsche out there adn let it go; they actually strap a jet engine to a vehicle and let it rip
