Can't connect to wired router, but wireless is fine. ( 2 Views )

no kitty!
  1. My computer will not connect to my router, unless I disable my firewall. I am using Panda Platinum Internet Security. I can connect to someone elses wireless router with the firewall enabled. I have tried to create exceptions within the software to let me connect, but it doesn't work. I keep the network card disabled when I am using the wireless. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software with the card enabled and the wireless card disabled, but it still wouldn't connect to the router without the firewall diasbled. I can connect wirelessly even though the card was disabled when I installed the software. I also tried Zone Alarm and that wouldn't let me connect either. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. The network card is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet card. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Paragraphs
    ARE
    nice...

so I assume then that you are trying to connect via a wired link?
if so, then perhaps you could edit your post to help explain what the problem is?

You are having problems with your wired connection on a 1)laptop 2)desktop
You have ICF 1)enabled 2) disabled
You have tried uninstalling panda firewall shit and connecting 1)yes 2)no
When panda is installed, does your lan connection a) show up as connected but no traffic goes through or b) lan connection says 'no connection
What method are you using for ip addressing 1)DHCP 2)static
if answer to above was 2, then
Are your ip settings correct 1)yes 2)no

or i just totally misinterpreted your problem, in which case, i'm sorry

  3. Sorry about the long paragraph.

I'm having problems connecting through my wired router on my laptop.
    The windows firewall is off.
I have uninstalled panda, and can connect.
when panda is installed, the lan connection shows up as connected, but nothing goes through.
    I'm using DHCP ip addressing

  4. sounds like your computer isnt pulling a dhcp addy then
have you allowed traffic on port 68 in and out of your machine with panda? thats the port that dhcp uses. udp traffic

    also,
go to start -> run, and type in 'cmd'
when the command prompt opens up, what shows up when you type in 'ipconfig /all' ?

  5. Yes, I have allowed traffic on all ports udp and tcp.

when i do ipconfig /all, i get the ip address that the router assigns, and the address of the router. i can also ping the router.
