do the internal usb and firewire cables NEED to have the shielding? ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. Like the title says, do they have to be shielded?

I am in the process of sleeving all cables in my case, and so I took the cables USB and firewire cables that connect to the front of the case, cut off the plastic biege surrounding, took off the metal sleeving, and then took off the aluminum foil cover that was surrounding the wires, and then re-sleeved them in black. Should I have done this? What effects might this cause?

Also, how many of you actually use the front usb/firewire/audio connections?

    Thanks

  2. depending on the device, you'll probably get some EMI going on. since the cables come shielded for a reason.
