Forgot to change and BLOW! from 110 to 220volt any help? ( 2 Views )

1. just got home
   and forgot to change the 110Volt to 220Volt
   and force to ON
   then MY POWERSUPPLY IS producing smokes... white smokes :eek:
   
   all other component is safe
   only the PSU is damages, heavily, may be burn overvoltages.
   
   any recomendation, could it be repaired ?
   is it safe to use repaired powersupply ?

2. you can try and RMA it.. you WILL get a new one if they honor the RMA.

4. It's a non-PFC power supply with a voltage switch. Consider this a blessing in disguise. Now go out and get something decent.

5. The only thing that happened when I accidently switched my voltage, the computer just wouldn't shut-off if you held down the power-button... you had to pull out the power cable.
   
   Computer itself worked fine though :eek:

6. Can the tech at the RMA figure out if it was the switch? If they can they are obviously not going to give him another one since it's his fault.
   
   Or maybe he can pull a McDonald's Hot coffee and say: "well they should have had warning stickers written using radioactive neon green!!!"

7. An engineer at the manufacturer level, yes. An RMA tech? No.
