2. IMO BF2 is to big of a game to LAN with unless with NPCs or just messing around.
   
   CoD4 might be fine.
   
   Or you could go really old school and do Duke Nukem 3D!:D

5. Sounds like FPS and RTS games. My $20 (inflation):
   
   FEAR Combat - Free, standard DM based shooter
   Far Cry - There is a free ad-stamped version, I think at FilePlanet.
   HL2DM - Nothing says you care like throwing objects with the gravity gun
   HL1 - Great old school action and tons of mods/maps
   Ricochet from Steam - Ok, I lied - I think we spent 15 mins on this at a LAN, laughed at how stupid it was and deleted it.
   
   Supreme Commander - Very resource intensive...throw this one out if someone's got a low-end rig
   Dawn of War - Good RTS game

7. Dawn of War is perfect for eight players. Team Fortress 2 is good if you choose smaller maps (the new Murderball map was fun when I played 5v5 at a LAN - just be sure to change the default respawn to something well below 15 seconds!). Prey is good for some deathmatch fun at a LAN. I'd also add Defcon, but it has a max of six players.

   the game mode where you all spawn as marines, then the 1st person to die spawns as an alien. Then you hunt.

12. Well I'm not sure about the compatibilities but BF1942 is the shit. I have zero lan experience but I can't see it not working. Also why would you want to play anything else beside ut2004? :p
