1. Which do you think will be better, Barcelona or Penryn? AMD was always a better CPU maker until C2D came out, ever since Intel has been the better of the two. Who do you think will be the best 1 or 2 years from now?

   Ahahahahahahahahahah "always" no do not think so. Recently, sure no argument there. /sigh, No one cares about history anyway.
   
   Peryren is mainly just a C2D die shrink anyway. Nehalem is the one to watch.
   
   I fear for AMD they are in a mess and I do not think the B chip will be good (fast) enough soon enough, I really hope I am wrong. Intel has been well behaved lately and its scary, without competition I worry they will go back to their old bad habits, and if AMD dies they take ATI with them. Particularly scary as Intel is getting very interested in video cards.

   Pretty much sums up where this thread is going. There's not much official info on performance of the next gen of chips, so all we can do is guess.

6. Right now AMD is losing the battle, but they will NOT lose the war. But, In the end both companies will still be here.
   
   And there will always be computer illiterates who just buy whats on sale. **OMGz BEST BUY HAS THIS PC AND MONITOR WITH A PRINTER FOR $399!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**
   
   As long as there are people like that, both companies will always stay in business.
   
   But it is funny that you say they have ALWAYS been better. They werent always better. When I worked retail, I would try to explain (Pre-Core2Duo) why the AMD processors were better than the Pentium D Processors. And Most of the time people were like, "Well we have used Intel, and I have never heard of this A N D company anways.". But of course, I always sold them an AMD computer. If I had to show them benchmarks and explain what they meant, so be it.
   
   And, I remember the Intel rep would come in, and he would talk about Core2Duo, and I would be the guy in the back laughing, and saying "Intel hasn't gotten it right so far, what makes now any different?" Right before release, I was skeptical. But now, I see Intel does have tricks up their sleeves. And people used to say, "Intel processors suck for gaming PC's." Well, I guess they changed that REALLY quick.
   
   And for those, deciding whether or not to buy Intel or AMD. Right now, Intel is better for your money, BUT if you are a HARDCORE AMD Fan, the 6000+ Is pretty close to being on par with the E6600. So if you couldn't sleep at night because you have an Intel processor, buy the AMD processor. They arent really THAT far behind. Just Intel's Core2Duo Architecture is Faster than anything AMD has out at this point in time.
   
   
   VERDICT:
   Right Now: Intel has the lead with their Core2Duo Architecture.
   
   The Future: Who knows, it should bounce back and fourth until AMD can figure out a way to make their ownership/partnership with ATI run better than anything else.
