ASP or Software program on your server ( 3 Views )

1. Hello Guys,
   
   I'm currently in the process of creating a new web marketing related service / software. I'm still doubting though if I'd offer the service in a software sale model or in an service provider model . Major differences between both of these options are:
   
   - hosting: no hosting issues when selling a software package, when offering it as a service provider I'll need to have reliable hosting with pretty advanced database capabilities.
   
   - Income: software script: one time / service provider: recurring per quarter/year.
   
   - Security: Software script can easily be passed on and may offer security and installing issues for the users / ASP: safer as it is all data is centralized.
   
   Did I miss any important differences here and which option would you prefer: paying a recurring fee or a one off fee and do all the install things yourself? I need some opinions here.
