What's the best way to display my portfolio? ( 5 Views )

1. Hello.
   I am creating an online portfolio (illustrations and web designs) and would like to know if there is a tutorial for such a thing. I would like to have a row of thumbnails on top and have the image appear (larger in size) below when moused over. I don't have a large amount of pictures so I don't need a database to store them. Using Flash is an option. I appreciate any help/advice.

   this doesn't answer your questions specifically, but it is related. there is an excellent book on creating an online portfolio:
   
   "Designing a Digital Portfolio"
   
   it isn't very heavy on the technical end of things, but rather the approach of a portfolio. it helps you figure out exactly WHY you're doing this, WHAT you want it to accomplish, and WHO you want it to work for. It's made me think much more clearly about my portfolio that I have online, which is going to get rebuilt soon. (check it out here.)
   
   i mention it because i seem to have the row of thumbs you describe, but they are not rollovers- you have to click on them. however, as simple as my website is, it is built around a database. you might reconsider not using a database. why? update-ability. i can ad new content without having to create entire new pages, or fixing links on a bunch of pages.
