vb transfer and upgrade ( 4 Views )

1. ok... im in the middle of aquiring a forum website / domain name. the leased vb license is already transfered to me.. waiting on the domain name to get transfered and then change the dns info
   
   the site is currently running vb 2.3.3 and i got the full sql backup as well as vb 2.3.3
   
   my quesiton is... if i download vb3 from the site... i know ill loose all the hacks that were installed into the site on the current 2.3.3 site... but are there any other problems i could run into??? ive never had a vb site, only phpbb so any help would be greatly apreciated

3. I made the upgrade from 2.3.3 to vB3 about two weeks ago, and it went perfectly smooth.
   
   As has been said, you'll lose all the hacks, and 2.3.3 skins aren't compatible. What I did was install a clean copy of vB3 as a test board. I customized the skin on that board and installed several test hacks. When I was comfortable with the skin, I downloaded it so everything was ready. I then upgraded my board and uploaded the new skin and installed the hacks I had already tested. It will save you time to install a test board ahead of time and get everything ready.

4. Do you know that there are any hacks installed? And would it be possible to get a list of hacks installed from the guy you purchased it from? The majority of the vB2 hacks have been either ported to vB3 or are now standard features of vB3.

5. yes there are hacks, of which im not sure... but ill prob ask him.. because from what i heard, vb3 is leaps and bounds better then vb2.3.3
