Free marines jacket with 'information request' ( 1 Views )

Just a word of warning: the Marines will HASSLE you to no end if you sign up for this. If you don't mind the spam and the potential telemarketing type calls to try and get you recruited then go for it.
Years ago I put my name on the list just for one of those shiny gold and red stickers so I could give it to my uncle (who is a Marine). They kept calling even after I left for college the next year.
(soner, Panama)
Don't even fake being interested in the military. It's so hard to get them off your back.
(hatice, Guyana)
I agree
Four years now, and I'm still receiving random calls on my cell-phone none the less!
Don't do it!

You gave them your cell number? Yikes.
Would be cool to have the jacket, but it's unbearable having them calling and guilt-tripping all the time. The worst is when they wanna come to your house.
(Kenan, Saint Lucia)
Err, cmon guys I recived calls from them too (free beanie). Then I told them to remove me from their calling list and they did.

Better them than the military from another country showing up at your house.
And, lest we forget...that is what our military does, they keep us safe, protect our way of life and guarantee that we don't lose our rights to make fun of them in the forums.
Don't want to be called? Don't sign up for the "free" jacket.
(seda, Micronesia, Federated States of)
Didn't make fun of anyone. Military recruiters can be quite hard to shoo off. No lie in that.
Don't really agree with leading them on, either, even if the 'free' offer is deliberately a ploy to get contact information.
(mehmet , Myanmar)
I wouldn't do it (hell, I'm ineligible for it anyways), just because technically, you're wasting some resources of the recruiting command on you when they could be using it on someone else, though realistically, their budget is pretty large.
(enes, Peru)
I will do it...I am in the Air Force...so I will tell them that, they will try and say something stupid like they always do and hang up. :D (My step-father was a marine, so I will give him the jacket...might do something to it like put "Marine..I was stupid, should of joined the Air force"...:p (Just all in good fun)

When you walk around in your USMC jacket what are you going to tell the Marines that approach you looking to swap stories about Paris Island ?

lmao, then pull out a knife and ask if they wanna go for a run...
(rusen, Venezuela)
Just tell them you already joined the navy.
In high school I had an army and a navy guy calling me every fucking day.
I finally told the navy guy I joined the army, and the army guy that I joined the navy.
They never called again.
(memo, Korea, Democratic People's Republic of)
The military of all forms used to harrass me to no end.
always with the 'You dont want 40,000 towards college' and my ever constant reply 'Oh I'll take your money but I wont work for it.'
Eventually the solution was to succumb to one of their 'entry' surveys to see if you are even elligible...
GOD BLESS ASTHMA BEING THE CURE TO MILITARY PHONE HARRASSMENT!
(osman, Antarctica)
wtf are we talking about here. i got my jacket with overnight delivery and no phone calls.
if they call say 'not interested' if call again tell them you're gay
military recruiters shouldnt be the focus of this thread

Are you going to correct it and put "should have" instead of "should of," or is that part of the joke?
(emre, Ireland)
I get enough hassle from them and have supposedly been removed from lists but I still get the ocasional letter and/or call. They LOVE the guilt technique on the phone
Or they also like to say how much like a video game it is
(hatice, Serbia and Montenegro)
Just tell them you never graduated high school.
They frown on people who don't. Granted, it's probably on some Army supercomputer "DETAIN KENTON, HE DID NOT PASS HIGH SCHOOL." but it's untrue.

dang I know what you mean, I hate that guilt method they put on you because they know most people say support the troops and they play on that.
(mehmet, Sierra Leone)
FFS. Just go to the Surplus shop and spend a few tenners. That way nobodys time is wasted.
(ecem, Cook Islands)
kk signed up...used my old home number and spam email acct...should be getting jacket any day now...
(mustafa, Haiti)
well, i am over age to join, so they will not be able to harass me much :D
(yasemin, Norway)
rather have a sister in a whore house than a brother in the marines
raffle, infantry ftw
but nobody can disagree those recruiters can be extremely pushy and violent... they're always getting in trouble for going too far... they have numbers they have to make.... def worst job in the armed forces... i'd be a cook over a recruiter any day
(Recep, Yemen)
I've never gotten any of these, but I've never gotten hassled by recruiters either. it's a mixed blessing.
