Datagrids and border-collapse - astounding! ( 3 Views )

no kitty!
  1. To my surprise, ASP.NET datagrids output HTML without me even telling it to! Feature or Bug?

Specifically, ASP.NET tables and datagrids emit a style="border-collapse:collapse;" attribute despite my removal of all formatting code (I need a plain ol' TABLE tag).

So, can anyone shed any light on this? Removing it is the only solution I'm interested in- not border-collapse:separate or a redundant CSS class.

    TIA,
    Matt

  2. "Feature," unfortunately. The DataGrid is a neat thing, but despite a million properties, it's really still missing some things.

In many cases, I've abandoned using it entirely so I could build my own pager based on a PagedDataSet and a Repeater. Surprisingly even, it renders faster according to the trace times.

Now if they could do a tableless grids, that would be cool.
