How can I view HD content on my Dell 2005fpw? ( 2 Views )

1. I have a Dell 2005FPW monitor. I want to view over the air HD on it. It doesn't have HDCP so a cable box is out. I am not interested in recording anything I just want to be able to use it as an HDTV until I can afford a real HDTV. I am also concerned if I can even obtain HD signals in my apartment. I don't want to spend $1500 on an HDTV if I have to move to be able to get HD. antennaweb.org isn't much help when it doesn't know what buildings and trees are around you and in the way. My apartment is also half underground so signals from the west probably won't be happening. Thanks for any advice.

2. Doesnt your cable company have HD channels?
   An HD cable box shouldnt be much more than than a regular cable box
   
   PLus I think youll need an HD converter for the PC, so it can play the TV channels to the 2005FPW

3. No my cable company doesn't offer HD. How can I hook up a cable box to the monitor if the monitor doesn't have HDCP? Don't all cable boxes need that? Even if you use them for over the air HD?

5. The 2005FPW doesnt have a component in, and I dont know if you can use the VGA input for that with theright cable.
   
   You could just use the S-Video input though.

   Uh, no. Those only work if the VGA port is designed to output component. Video cards aren't. They're used on projectors.

   i have the same question, do all the cable boxes require HDCP on the monitor?
   
   is it possible to use DVI to VGA adaptor, and then connect to VGA port on the monitor without HDCP?
