printspooler not starting.. and viruses too ( 2 Views )

1. so i know this girl.. and she can't print.. she tried to reinstall the printer, it wouldn't let her.. it said print spooler ins't running..
   
   so i had her go to the services and set it to automatic and try to start it manually.. she said to gave her an error and it wouldn't start..
   
   her printer is a lexmark.. i found a thing online where someone had a problem with their print spooler after replacing a lexmark with an hp.. they had to dig through the registry..
   i can't have her do this.. and she is 700 miles from me..
   
   but that's not the only thing.. she has viruses.. she commented.. what about that POS you put on my ocmputer.. it keeps popping stuff up.. what program? i ask. "Nod 32"...
   
   so yeah.. since i have been talking to her online:
   File C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\pxelru.dat is infected with trojan Win32/Spy.Agent.NAC. The file can be deleted. It is strongly recommended that you back up any crucial data before you proceed.

   so... she has nod32.. if she runs the comptuer in safe mode and just keeps doing scans, should that fix it?
   
   would a virus make the print spooler not work?
   
   i would personally pull the hd, and scan it with another computer..

2. Boot to safe mode, disable system restore, run ccleaner with all options checked and perform a full nod32 scan, that should get rid of those virii

3. so i mentioned the system restore thing.. and thoguht about it.. but decided to have her leave it enabled.. what is the deal, do viruseses get in there and can't be removed?
   
   right now she is running nod32 in safe mode..
   
   i will tell her to dl ccleaner.. is it this: http://www.ccleaner.com/ ? i never heard of it..
   
   and if none of that works.. disable system restore and repeat?
